31 July 2015: As part of the build up to the main event in England, it has been confirmed that the ‘Ikale Tahi are set to face Nottingham RFC at their Lady Bay Stadium on August 28 2015. This will promise to be an exciting challenge for both teams, Nottingham RFC have a strong and proud rugby hisstory, and also have two Tongans in their own ranks in Viliami Hakalo and Viliami Iongi
The buzz has already started on the nottinghamrugby.co.uk website, where Nottingham head coach Martin Haag was quoted as saying:
“It’s an honour for us to be able welcome the Tongan national side to The Bay, as part of their World Cup preparations.”
“With the World Cup coming up, Tonga will be a big draw and it would be great to see a big crowd down here supporting the players in their preparations for the season ahead.”
This will also mark the first time in their 138 year history that Nottingham have hosted an international team, which will give the event particular significance to both teams.
